WAOW wants to make payment as easy as possible in order to offer you additional advantages. But first we’d like to clarify a few matters.

About WAOW

WAOW takes a different perspective on payment. WAOW wants to have a positive impact on the payment market. It is important that users can once again enjoy all the perks without having to always pay extra to make and receive transactions. It is time for change and WAOW is ready to bridge that gap. But, above all, WAOW wants all users to benefit from payments using WAOW!

The app is completely free of charge. There is no extra cost to download and all app functionalities are free to use without limitations. Of course, the app does use some network data, but this cost is connected to your network operator.

Payment

To make things easier for you, we’ve posted a list on our website of all of our points of sale. Click here for the most recent list Shops that accept payment by WAOW have green payment terminals, as well as the familiar green window sticker by the entrance. If you want to enjoy the discount of at least 2% that we offer with every payment, you will have to first register and download the app.

We do not charge any fees for transactions. More than that, you get at least 2% off every payment when you pay using WAOW.

You do not need an eID reader to pay at a WAOW green terminal. You only need an eID registration to activate a WAOW account via the website or, if you register directly at the retailer, your ID card.

Registration

We care about your safety, which is why you must first register before using the app. The process is very simple. There are even several options:

* Register through the website, where you first create an account

* Register at a retailer

At the top right of the homepage of our website, click on ‘Register’. You then click on ‘Create account’. There are a few steps you need to carry out to complete your registration. You will then be sent a QR code that you can scan with your smartphone in order to automatically link your account to your smartphone.

The WAOW app is asking your computer whether it detects a card reader. If your computer does not recognise it, we receive this notification. So, the problem is not caused by WAOW or by you personally.

But it is easy to resolve. In most cases, all you need to do is restart your computer with the card reader connected. Your computer will then recognise the card reader and forward this information to the WAOW app. You can always add or activate your card reader via the control panel – all control panel items – devices and printers.

As with your bank card, your ID card has a chip that is read. Unlike a bank card, however, you rarely use your ID card, which may have resulted in a ‘dirty’ chip. Wipe off the chip with a clean cloth and try again.

During the registration process, you usually have the possibility to change your phone number. If this is not possible, contact us at support@waow.be and we’d be happy to help you further.

A WAOW account can only be linked to 1 mobile phone for security reasons. Have you just purchased a new device and would you like to link it to your WAOW account? Then surf to the homepage of our website and click on 'login' in the top right corner, then choose to log in with 'card reader'. After this selection, insert your ID card into the reader and select your account. Confirm with your 4-digit pin code (the code created during your registration). Once logged in, select the option 'link account / device' in the menu bar on the left. At that moment you will receive a QR code that you can scan with the WAOW app on the new mobile phone. The account on the old device is automatically blocked.

Privacy & security

A security certificate is absolutely necessary and guarantees a safe connection between your computer and our servers. The required data can therefore be exchanged safely and completely in accordance with GDPR requirements. The safety of our users is top priority.

If you are unable to install this security certificate, the installation will be blocked by the security settings on your computer. You will then need to change the settings on your computer to enable the installation of the security certificate. There are several ways to do this, depending on the operating system and security software installed on your computer. This problem can usually be resolved by agreeing to a pop-up message. In some cases, you will have to change the security settings on your computer.

We recommend using not only a PIN code, but also Face ID or a fingerprint as the login method, so that you can always access the app if you forget your PIN code. If you are still unable to log in, contact us at support@waow.be.

This is your account number at WAOW and ensures that your account is unique. We deliberately replace your personal data with this certified account number for safety reasons and to be GDPR-proof. This functions as a ‘token’ that enables a safe exchange of data between WAOW and its partners.
